VANESSA VILLEGAS LOPEZ: We primarily deal with cases in family law. Those would be cases involving divorce, custody, parenting and time modifications, child support and child support modifications, guardianships, step-parent adoptions, a little bit of criminal law, workers compensation and bankruptcy.

Lopez Law Office is a bilingual office. I have bilingual staff members who are proficient in Spanish. I'm also a Spanish speaker. I'm able to provide a direct service to the Latino community.

The courts traditionally have favored mothers in custody disputes. More and more I have fathers that come to me and that want to participate and do not just want to be weekend dads. They really want to have a hands-on their children's lives. And it is a privilege to be able to work with them and I really enjoy those types of cases.

We have a focus that communication is key. And with that communication we want our clients to partner with us in solving their legal problems. It helps them feel like they're in control of a situation that for many individuals makes them feel that they're out of control. They're able to participate in this process and gain a little bit of comfort through a really hard time.
